GDR MACS Multi-Agent Systems Opinion Dynamics Environmental Feedback
Summary: Examines how social influence and environmental feedback shape group behavior in a multi-agent system. Each agent’s opinion affects their emissions, impacting the environment and creating a closed feedback loop. Establishes three characteristic asymptotic regimes: stable equilibria (consensus or clustering), limit cycles with oscillatory prey-predator dynamics, and chaotic behavior converging to a strange attractor.
View Model & Asymptotic Regimes
Coupled Model Highlights:
- Multi-Agent Opinion Dynamics: \(N\) agents on a strongly connected directed graph adjust opinions \(\theta_i(k) \in [-1, 1]\) balancing stubbornness \((1 - \theta_i^2)\), social influence \(s_\theta\), and environmental perception \(s_p(\bar{p} - p(k))\).
- Environmental State: Pollution \(p(k+1) = \gamma p(k) + \sum_{i=1}^N E(\theta_i(k))\) with natural decay rate \(\gamma \in (0, 1)\).
-
Asymptotic Regimes:
- Equilibria: Stable consensus or polarized cluster formations (extreme opinions \(\theta_i = \pm 1\) are unstable).
- Limit Cycles: Opinions and environmental pollution oscillate periodically in a prey-predator dynamic.
- Chaotic: Strange attractor dynamics where synchronization cannot be guaranteed.
